Dan Whitehead

Dan, a local artist, designs and builds one-of-a-kind vintage, industrial, and Steampunk lighted creations.  He was first introduced to Steampunk in 2016 and began to feed that desire to be both creative and adventurous in his garage.  In 2018, he won first place at a Steampunk convention in Tampa, Florida which fueled his confidence.  Dan is self-taught and uses a variety of mediums and styles.

As a child, Dan chose creativity and adventure over structure and discipline.  He spent his time tearing apart toys, small engines, and anything else he could find, just to recreate those objects in some other form and for some other purpose.  As he grew, he embraced the thought that creativity was nothing but the way to solve new problems. That is the mindset that drove his career in power and electricity and his recreation to tools and the extraordinary.

When asked how his mind comes up with its’ ideas, he claims that he starts with a simple object and sees something unique in it, a way to give it a new life.  He confesses that there are times that the battle between creativity and technicality is hard won but the thrill of seeing how others appreciate his work and hearing how each purchased piece brings a strange happiness into their lives is worth it all.
